False Chanterelle

The false Chanterelle is not edible.  It causes stomach upset.  It is often found in the same area as Chantrelles but is easily distinguished by the fact that:

– it’s flesh is orange rather than white

– its gills are much darker coloured  and deeper

– the cap is much more regular than the yellow chantrelle

  1. Do chanterelles have a hallow stem? I found some that looked liked chanterelles that have a hollow sten.

    • No Ron definitely not a hollow stem. The stem is white inside and very solid. Even more solid that your store bought mushrooms.
